Excerpt:

Roman Holbrook sat at the hotel bar and went over the list of his best man duties with the same focus he used at his day job. Financial reports could be dull, but wedding stuff hardly excited him. He truly wished his brother well and Connor loved his man, Dylan, like crazy. For all the times Roman had been best man for his friends, a gay wedding had a different vibe. Of course, he was the only straight guy in the wedding.
The other best man, Bryan, carried his fair share and they’d worked well together. The rehearsal and accompanying dinner behind him, Roman prepped for the big day tomorrow. Deep down, he couldn’t wait for the good-bye breakfast. He hated the high level of attention everything received. From the flowers to the seating chart. Forty-eight hours and Roman went back to his dull life.
“There he is!” Dylan sat at the stool next to Roman.
Roman looked to up find Connor and Dylan hovering. “What do you need?”
“He’s such a good best man!” Connor hugged Roman.
The brothers were opposites in every way. At twenty-five, Connor was a computer expert who gamed. Never into actual sports, Connor was leaner and paler than his big brother, but both had good height and attractive features.
They both had light blue eyes and brown hair but Roman’s dad started him young with football and hockey. Only two years separated the boys but Connor flat out refused to try sports. The guy never got dirty. Roman still worked out and played on the company’s softball team.
“Thanks. Getting nervous?” Roman asked.
“No. When it’s right, it’s right. You really don’t have a date?” Connor pouted.
“No, there’s no one special enough to subject them to our family. Plus I’m in the wedding so it’d be awkward.” With all he had to do, it’d never occurred to Roman to bring a date.
Dylan shook his head. “Look out. Plenty of hot single guys are going to be there. They’ll be hitting on you all night long.”
“How flattering.” Roman spent his school life protecting Connor and taking crap. Nothing shocked him anymore.
Connor chuckled. “Be careful. Drunk gay guys will grope and can be very forward. It’s not like beating up a bully.”
“It’s your day, I can handle anything. I’ll just send them after Bryan. He’s gay and single. I’m sure he can handle it.” Roman left out that Bryan was super hot. With black hair, green eyes, and an easy smile on a swimmer’s body, the men would fall all over Bryan and ignore Roman. Problem solved.
“Good. Now one more favor for tonight.” Connor smiled sheepishly.
“What? The bachelor party is all set for the private room in the back of the bar. Bryan handled the entertainment. Food and drinks are provided. The ushers volunteered to decorate. Cake has been delivered.” Roman was nothing if not efficient.
Dylan smiled. “He’s so efficient. Your brother should be a party planner.”
“Just one more thing.” Connor put a hand on Dylan’s arm.
“What?” Roman tried to think of what could be missing.
“Well, some of the guys might get wild. The wedding is tomorrow and I want everyone functional. Would you come to the party tonight and just keep anyone from going overboard. Drinking way too much or staying up all night. The family will be judging the gay friends. They accept me and that’s great, but you know how it is. Please.”
Roman sighed. “You want me to come to the bachelor party? Bryan will be there.”
“Bryan likes guys. We all like guys. With a stripper, we’ll be distracted. I swear, we’re going up early. In bed by midnight.” Dylan hugged Connor. “But the single guys might play late. You’re the guy who can keep an eye on them.”
“Please, I’ll just sleep better knowing that you make sure Bryan and the single ushers go to bed. Common sense is your thing. What you’re so good at! Plus, it’s my bachelor party. My only one. You should be there. Male stripper or not.” Connor patted his brother’s back.
That was true. He belonged with his brother. The idea of an all naked man dancing around didn’t intimidate Roman. He’d played football all through school so he’d seen plenty of naked guys in a locker room. Of course, if this were anything like the straight bachelor parties with nasty strippers, he’d be more interested in the food and conversation than the show.
“Fine,” Roman conceded. “But everyone in bed by three in the morning. The wedding is tomorrow at four. Everyone has to be up and decent.”
“See.” Connor winked at Dylan.
“Every gay wedding should have a straight best man.” Dylan nodded. “Come on, Connor. We need to get back to the room.”
“What for?” Connor asked.
“I’m going to strip for you so you remember who you really want no matter how hot that stripper is.” Dylan tugged his shirt up playfully.
Roman chuckled and went back to his list as the happy couple headed for the elevators. They were a perfect pair. A bit of jealousy fluttered inside of Roman. None of the women Roman ever dated even came close to making him feel like that. His mother kept telling him he’d just know when he met the right one. Doubts haunted Roman. Would he ever find the right one? Probably not at this wedding!
